Gruul's Lair

The new guild joined forces with another guild last night to attempt Gruul's Lair. We got the first big boss down to 5%, but after 3 hours of attempts, we decided to call it and try another day. This is the first raid I've been in with 25 people. It was chaos, to say the least. I chalk most of this up to the fact that it was our first attempt, and that most of the people hadn't done any 25 man raiding before. I'm sure we'll get better.

Our main trouble was transitioning between focusing on the various mobs as the fight progressed. Especially for me, my healing assignments were not particularly clear and even when I thought I knew what I was supposed to be doing, finding my next healing target was not easy. I often had to run through the fight to the other side, dodging various and sundry AOE attacks from the mobs, to get to where I could heal my next target.

Anyway, it was a fun learning experience and I'm sure we'll down him the next time.

Maulgar and his buddies are a strange group. Our raid leader basically has our puller do a countdown, and everyone does a simultaneous pull, involving spells, misdirects, and weapons getting thrown. It's a very organized thing that I don't have to worry about much because I have my heal targets.

Gruul's is fun, and that first group of guys is all about developing a simultaneous pull and sticking to an organized plan.

Yeah, we did something very similar. In general, the pulls went pretty much ok. Things broke down most often in the transition between killing the priest and going after the shaman.

We did have our fair share of hunters letting their pets stray too close to the mobs and setting off the whole thing way too early. That was truly aggravating.
